JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Reporting to the SUE (Subsurface Utility Engineering) Division Manager, this position will conduct field surveys primarily for the SUE Division and the Engineering Division when demand warrants, for a variety of Planview Clients, through a variety of mediums and methods for collecting data, generating, storing, distributing, and using mapping records to ensure that underground utilities are readily identifiable and locatable, which include and are not necessarily limited to:

 

SUE (Subsurface Utility Engineering)

 

  • Experience with SUE (Subsurface Utility Engineering) and it’s standards such as CSA S250 Mapping of Underground Utility Infrastructure and ASCE Standard 38-02 is considered an asset
  • Experience in scheduling, ordering, field supervision, quality control and field data collection
  • Author utility reports
  • Cable locating experience is considered an asset
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize multiple, ongoing projects

 

Surveyor

 

  • Intermediate level surveyor with 5 years of experience as a Surveyor and/or Survey Party Chief
  • Aerial (Pole) Surveys
  • GPS / Topographical Surveys
  • Property stakeouts
  • Review of third party permits
  • Familiarity with and the ability to operate and troubleshoot modern surveying equipment and respective post-processing software for the purposes of completing field surveys and associated quality control
  • Gather field survey information on above and below grade infrastructure utilizing Planview methodology and processes
  • Preparation and translation of said field work to supply finished product to the project coordinator / project manager / engineering department
  • The ongoing development of Planview aerial and topographical/GPS processes and methodologies to further develop operational efficiencies
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and MicroSurvey

 

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION

 

  • Engineering Technology or other accredited designation in engineering, valid in Canada or equivalent past experience
  • Must be a permanent resident of Canada
  • E.T. or associate member of OACETT is preferred
  • Must be physically fit, able to navigate easy to moderate terrains, able to lift and/or carry 40lbs +
  • Valid G license in good standing
  • Provide reliable vehicle, travel daily is required as part of the position
  • Ability to work longer days, in remote areas with little to no direct supervision with benchmark deliverables met
  • Willingness to work overtime
  • Able to work in a team atmosphere
  • Presentable, polite and professional as customer interaction is required
  • Fluent in written and verbal English
  • Past telecom or outside plant design or construction experience an asset

Past survey experience with GPS / land surveys and CAD drawings considered an asset
