Connecting Georgina Island with Fiber-to-the-Home Technology

  • Challenge: The Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation needed a safe, durable way to bring high-speed connectivity from the mainland across Lake Simcoe to the island community.
  • Solution: Planview USL designed and permitted a 3 km underwater fiber crossing with a custom stainless-steel ballast system, and developed a multi-phase Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) network serving island residents.
